Tips to keep kids cold-weather-proof

Children are more vulnerable than adults to cold-weather.
Exposure to extremely cold temperatures can cause frostbite or frost-nip.
Here are a few ideas to keep your children safe in the cold winter weather.
1. Dress kids in layers.
If one layer gets wet, the child can remove it to keep moisture away from the skin.
2. Choose warm fabrics.
Use fleece and wool garments instead of cotton clothes, which will not provide insulation if they get wet.
3. Cover extremities.
Warm boots, hats and mittens are essential because extremities are most prone to frostbite. Make sure kids cover their ears and nose and wear a hat to prevent significant heat loss from the head.
